When ATON decided to launch its very first collection of leather bags, they approached us at NOWHOW to bring their vision to life. Their idea was clear — something substantial yet soft, refined but not overly elegant, and far from rugged. To realize this, we proposed a material that has long been a cornerstone of our own collection: premium bullhide from Southern France.
Bullhide refers to leather sourced from uncastrated male cattle over three years old. Known for its pronounced grain and remarkable strength, it offers both durability and flexibility. Unlike typical bullhide, which is often stiff and coarse, this French bullhide is exceptionally supple — a rare quality that continues to inspire us.
Creating a leather bag typically involves dividing the process among multiple specialists: design, cutting, stitching, and finishing. At NOWHOW STUDIO, we take a different approach. From the first sketch to the final stitch, every step is carried out by a single artisan. This allows us to explore the material’s full potential and bring unique ideas to life without compromise.
